pantomimes"when will i finally publish a triples fic?" i ask god as he laughs and spits on me. in all seriousness, it's getting bleak out here! all i seem to do is write half a sss fic and then abandon it for months and it's driving me insane!!! anyway. these are some dead wips of mine that will probably never see the light, so i thought i might as well share them here as i usually do.

This whole situation is ridiculous, Dahyun thinks as she frowns, letting her forehead drop against the car window with a soft thud.
She’s had worse dreams. A lot of them, actually. Last week she had to sleep with the lights on after dreaming she was being chased by an army of demons, or whatever those nasty monsters from the horror movie Kaede forced her to watch were.
But, of course, the dream where she’s in the club with Sohyun and everyone wants a piece of her girlfriend is the one that actually fucks her over and ruins her mood to the point where her hands are itching with the urge to beat the shit out of someone—one of the vultures her brain made up, preferably.
Dahyun is so busy glaring at the poor lake they’re parked in front of that she doesn’t notice Sohyun slowly blinking her eyes open, hands instinctively reaching out, searching for Dahyun’s.
The thoughts of murder and violence vanish from Dahyun’s brain for a second when Sohyun intertwines their fingers, but when that lazy smile that Dahyun adores oh so much blooms on Sohyun’s face, she finds she has no choice but to move to the driver’s seat, legs straddling each side of Sohyun’s waist as she holds her girlfriend’s face between her hands.
Pretty, Dahyun admires. Sohyun is so pretty.
“Hi,” Sohyun murmurs, voice still hoarse with sleep. Dahyun melts.
“Hi,” Dahyun's hands move from Sohyun's face to the back of her neck, nails dancing through her lover's nape. “Slept well?”

“You know what I just noticed?”
Dahyun looks up from her plate, the chocolate cake momentarily forgotten as she gives Yooyeon her full attention. Mayu, sitting beside her, does the same.
Yooyeon grins, then uses her fork to gesture between Dahyun and Mayu as she says, “I’ve never seen you two standing this close. Like, ever.”
Oh, Dahyun thinks, biting the inside of her cheeks while she processes the words Yooyeon threw at them. Then Dahyun turns to her right and—god, as if her situation couldn’t get any worse—she’s greeted by the view of Mayu looking every bit like an abandoned puppy, her big sad eyes tearing Dahyun’s soul apart.
“Yooyeon unnie is right,” Mayu whines, then drops the bomb, “Do you not like me, Dahyun-ah?”

When Dahyun says her life ended that day, she means it.
She knows that Yooyeon didn’t mean to send her mind spiraling and that Mayu—sweet, gentle, kind Mayu—was just playing along when she threw that fateful question at her.
Still, her brain refuses to get it together and cooperate, making her act all sorts of weird whenever she has to share the same space as Mayu—which is manageable, at first, but as soon as they start the preparations for their yearly full-group comeback, it becomes obvious to everyone and their mothers that there’s something very, very wrong with Dahyun.
“So,” Nakyoung drops beside her during their fifteen minute break, a half-empty water bottle in her hands, “are you going to tell me what’s going on or am I going to have to rip it off of you?”
Dahyun shoots her an annoyed glance, scoffs, then rests the back of her head against the mirror. “There’s nothing going on.”
It’s Nakyoung’s turn to scoff now. “Come on. I can’t remember the last time you screamed who are you into my face,” Nakyoung nudges Dahyun’s arm with her elbow, “not to mention the fact that you keep refusing to play stupid mobile games with me. I’ll have to switch gaming partners, maybe Mayu will be a better one—”
Dahyun groans, loud enough for her to receive confused looks from a few of the other members standing nearby, but thanks to Yubin’s deafening scream and string of complaints about something Chaeyeon did to her, the attention is short-lived.
Nakyoung doesn’t budge, though—much to Dahyun’s chagrin. Nakyoung’s gaze stays on her, focused and sharp, as if she was trying to read her mind. And when Dahyun hears a gasp, followed by the specific laugh Nakyoung lets out whenever she’s about to make her life a living hell, Dahyun knows she’s done for.
“Mayu is the problem, isn’t she?” Nakyoung asks, still giggling. When Dahyun lets out a tired sigh, turns away and refuses to answer, she starts laughing even more. “Yah!” Nakyoung shakes Dahyun’s shoulder, hands firm as she tries to get Dahyun to look at her again. “Did you two fight?”
“We didn’t fight!” Dahyun squeaks, slaps Nakyoung’s hands away. “It’s nothing, really.”
“It doesn’t sound like nothing,” Nakyoung presses, but Dahyun remains silent, a pout forming on her lips as she crosses her arms under her chest. “Tell me, princess,” Nakyoung sings, well aware that Dahyun is unable to resist the nickname. “What’s bothering you?”
And Dahyun spent a good minute trying to come up with a good excuse to push Nakyoung away, she really did—but at the end of the day she’s only human. And even though Nakyoung loves to tease her, she knows she can trust her with all of her thoughts, even the most nonsensical ones, so she lets her head drop over Nakyoung’s lap and tells her the truth.
“I think I’ve been a terrible friend to Mayu,” Dahyun confesses, surprised by how shaky her own voice sounds as she pours out the thought that’s been torturing her for an entire month.

Dahyun doesn’t know how she got herself in this situation.
One minute she was on the verge of tears, blaming herself for not being able to get a specific move right. In the next one she’s outside, fresh air filling her lungs, a soft hand pushing her forward.
“Manager unnie will be mad if she finds out we’re here,” Dahyun whispers, even though there’s no one around except the two of them.
“She won’t!” Mayu exclaims for the nth time that night, then hands Dahyun her phone. “I took care of it, look!”
Dahyun blinks a few times as she tries to adjust her tired eyes to the bright screen, and once the words start to make sense, she recognizes what seems to be the Japanese members’ group chat.

Dahyun stares at Mayu, then at the screen, then up at Mayu again. “You’re unbelievable, unnie,” Dahyun chuckles, hands back the phone. “You think they’re doing a good job at it?”
“Tone is, probably,” Mayu hums, stopping in front of Dahyun with a serious—yet painfully adorable—look on her face, pressing the tip of her finger over the crease between Dahyun’s eyebrows. “But you shouldn’t worry about that, okay? You’re here to relax. With me! Just focus on me.”
“Fine,” Dahyun laughs, for real this time, and pretends the proud smile that blooms on Mayu’s face doesn’t make her heart skip a beat or two. “Now feed me, please,” Dahyun whines, tugs at the hem of Mayu’s grey hoodie. “I’m so hungry.”
“Fine, fine,” Mayu coos, pats the top of Dahyun’s head, then entwines their hands again. Dahyun is afraid she might combust into a million pieces of heart-shaped confetti if Mayu keeps being this cute towards her. “Let’s get you some food.”

“Feeling better now?”
Dahyun nods, pushing her chair even closer to Mayu’s so she can rest her head on her shoulder. Mayu, always delighted to receive any sort of physical contact, throws an arm around Dahyun and lets her hand wander through the extension of her back, pulling a content sigh from Dahyun’s throat.
“We need to go back, though, I still need—”
Dahyun gets interrupted by her own yawn—a long, loud one that grabs the cashier’s attention and Mayu can't help but chuckle at. Dahyun furrows her eyebrows, ready to reprimand Mayu for laughing at her when another one slips out of her mouth, louder this time.
Mayu, amused at the scene, brings her mouth near Dahyun's ear and whispers, “You were saying?”
“Unnie!” Dahyun complains, but to no one's surprise, lacks the strength to push her away. Mayu is soft and warm and the feeling of her breath against her skin makes it impossible for Dahyun to move an inch, even though she's being very, very annoying right now. “Stop teasing me. And we actually need to go back.”
“Why?” Mayu asks, bringing her lips even closer to Dahyun's ear this time. “Don't you like spending time with your unnie?”
Dahyun has to bite the inside of her cheeks to not let out the most embarrassing sound known to man. “I need to practice.”
“No way,” Mayu pulls back enough to study Dahyun’s face, but keeps her arms firm around Dahyun's frame, as if trying to get her point across. “No more practice for you today.”
“But—”
“No buts,” Mayu puts her index finger over Dahyun's lips, and it takes all of Dahyun's strength not to faint right then and there. Mayu will be the death of her, there's no room for doubt anymore. “We’ll go back, get our things, and go home.”
Dahyun opens her mouth again, gears herself up to blur out yet another ridiculous excuse as to why she needs to spend three more hours singing and dancing in front of a mirror, but then Mayu hits her with the cutest, least threatening frown in the entire world and she forgets why she’s being so hard on herself in the first place.
Right here, under a flickering—and nearly blinding, might she add—convenience store light is a beautiful girl, begging for the opportunity to take care of her. She’d be a fool not to take it.
“Alright,” Dahyun surrenders. Mayu’s entire face glows with happiness. “Take me home, unnie.”
